What you'll build
What you will be able to do
Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.
- Measure where each of Vellmar Home Group's six business units stands in its market, in absolute and relative terms.
- Calculate market growth, sort the six units into Stars, Cash cows, Question marks and Dogs with IF, and draw the matrix as a scatter chart.
- Score all six units on weighted market attractiveness and business strength and turn the scores into an invest, selective or harvest recommendation.
- Turn a five-forces workshop into numbers for two markets, find the force that hurts most and pick the market to enter.
- Score eight SWOT items on impact, urgency and ability to act, rank them and decide what to act on now.
- Value four growth options from the Ansoff matrix by expected NPV, check each against the board's loss limit and pick the best.
- Build three scenarios for a product relaunch, weight them by probability and report the expected profit and the range.
- Score eight KPIs against their targets, handle 'lower is better' KPIs, roll the scores up by perspective and highlight the misses.
About this course
Strategy frameworks are often drawn on whiteboards, but they become far more useful with numbers attached. This course quantifies the classics. You calculate market share and relative share, then place each business unit on the growth-share matrix. A nine-box attractiveness and strength grid is built from weighted scores, and the five competitive forces are rated and weighted. SWOT findings become ranked priorities through a scoring matrix, and growth options from the product-market grid are judged by expected value within a risk limit. Bear, base and bull scenarios are combined with probabilities, and a balanced scorecard rolls up weighted KPI achievement. For MBA students, consultants and strategy or planning teams.
