Affiliate Marketing Math: EPC, Commissions, Conversion & Payouts
The numbers behind affiliate links, without the hype: conversion funnel and EPC, CPA vs revenue share vs tiered commission, comparing programs by net EPC, cookie windows, paid-traffic ROI, refunds and payout thresholds, a SUMIFS dashboard and the merchant's view of incremental sales. Fictional programs, no income claims, every cell checked as you go.

What you'll build
What you will be able to do
Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.
- Turn one month of affiliate-link data into conversion rate, average order value, EPC and RPM per article and for the whole site.
- Pay the same six months of orders under a flat CPA, a revenue share and a tiered rate, and see which model earns the most.
- Rank five programs for the same product by gross and net EPC, pick the best one and chart the comparison.
- Measure the days from click to order, flag the orders inside the cookie window and compare the commission under a 30-day and a 7-day window.
- Compare what each ad click costs with what it earns, find the campaigns that lose money and work out the highest CPC you can afford.
- Take reversed orders off the gross commission, measure the reversal rate per program and apply the minimum payout threshold.
- Roll a quarter's commission log up by program and month with SUMIFS, count only approved commission and chart which programs carry the site.
- Switch sides and judge an affiliate program like the merchant: full cost per partner type, incremental sales, incremental ROAS and the program's real contribution.
About this course
A high commission rate can still be the worse deal, and this course shows you how to tell. Working with a funnel from page views to clicks to orders, you calculate earnings per click and use it to compare programs instead of headline percentages. You model pay-per-sale, revenue share and tiered commissions, decide which orders count under different cookie windows, and test whether buying traffic at a given cost per click is profitable. You also subtract refunds and chargebacks to find the commission that is really paid, summarise earnings by program and month, and switch sides to judge a program's cost against the extra sales it brings. Suited to bloggers, content publishers, affiliate managers and online merchants.
