What you will be able to do

Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.

• Build the line-item block of Brightwater Print & Sign's invoice template: gross amount, discount amount and net amount per line, plus the effective discount of the whole invoice.
• Type only the SKU and quantity; the template looks up the description and the right unit price (list or bulk) from the price list and survives a mistyped SKU.
• Look up the tax rate for each line, calculate the tax per line, summarise net and tax per rate and see why the tax per line and the tax on the total can differ by a cent.
• Build invoice numbers like BW-2026-0148: a running counter, the prefix and year joined with &, the counter padded to four digits with TEXT, a counter that restarts every year and the next free number for a new invoice.
• Turn payment terms into due dates, move due dates off weekends and holidays with WORKDAY, find the early-payment deadline in business days and schedule monthly retainer invoices with EDATE.
• Check whether a quote was accepted in time, carry only the accepted lines into the invoice and split the amount into a deposit invoice and a final invoice.
• Link a payment log to the invoice register: total paid per invoice with SUMIFS, the open balance, a status (Paid / Partly paid / Open) and a stacked chart of paid vs open.
• Build a statement of account for Harbor Dental with a running balance, calculate days overdue for the open invoices, summarise them into ageing buckets and highlight the seriously overdue ones.
