About this course

When should a stand be harvested, and what is the bare land worth? This course answers both with calculations foresters use. You estimate tree volume from diameter, height and a form factor, scale sample plots up to volume per hectare, and build a growth and yield table with mean and current annual increment. The biological rotation appears where MAI peaks and CAI crosses it. Discounting harvest revenue finds the economic rotation for a single cycle, and the Faustmann formula values land under an infinite series of rotations. Two thinning regimes are compared on present value, and a final lab adds carbon credit income at an illustrative price. For forestry and environmental students, woodland owners and land managers.
