What you'll build
What you will be able to do
Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.
- Calculate EV/EBITDA and P/E for five listed peers, take the medians and turn them into an implied share price for Ironbridge Tools.
- Turn six past deals into a per-share valuation range with MIN, MAX and MEDIAN and place it on the football field next to the other methods.
- Size the uses of a leveraged buyout of Northfield Packaging and fund them with two debt tranches and the private-equity sponsor's equity.
- Build a five-year debt schedule in which every spare dollar of free cash flow repays the term loan, without creating a circular reference.
- Value Northfield at exit, work out what the sponsor's equity is worth and measure the return as MOIC and IRR.
- Calculate the acquirer's pro-forma EPS for an all-stock, a 50/50 and an all-cash deal and find the most accretive way to pay.
- Measure how dilutive an all-stock deal is, find the synergies needed to break even and test whether year 1's partly realised synergies get there.
About this course
Investment banking and private equity interviews often come down to a few core models. This course lets you build each one in a focused lab. You value a company with trading comparables on EV/EBITDA and P/E, add precedent transactions and summarise the range in a football field chart. For the buyout you lay out sources and uses of funds, model a debt schedule with a cash sweep and calculate exit value, MOIC and IRR. On the merger side you test whether a deal is accretive or dilutive when paid in stock or cash, then estimate the synergies needed to break even. Ideal for finance students, analysts preparing for interviews and corporate development teams.
