What you'll build
What you will be able to do
Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.
- Break an online-store launch into work packages and turn three guesses per package into an expected effort and a range.
- Turn durations and finish-to-start links into real calendar dates that skip weekends and holidays.
- Find the activities that decide the go-live date and how much slack the others have.
- Turn planned hours into a week-by-week cost budget, build the cumulative S-curve and spot an overloaded person.
- Measure whether the project is on budget and on schedule at the end of week 5, with one consistent set of numbers.
- Forecast the final cost of the project from its performance so far, and what it would take to still hit the budget.
- Score eight project risks, price them with expected monetary value and decide which ones need a response first.
- Build the one-page status table a sponsor reads in 30 seconds: % complete, gaps and a Red/Amber/Green status per package.
About this course
This course follows a single project from first estimate to status report, building the planning and control tools along the way. You break the work into a work breakdown structure and estimate durations with three-point PERT, then schedule dates around weekends and dependencies with WORKDAY. Forward and backward passes reveal the critical path and slack. Resource loading produces a cost budget and S-curve, and earned value analysis compares planned value, earned value and actual cost with their variances and indices. You forecast completion cost with EAC, ETC, VAC and TCPI, score and rank risks in a register by expected monetary value and summarise status with KPIs and red-amber-green flags. For project managers and coordinators.
