About this course
Many developers and executives work on Macs, so security testers and defenders need to understand them. This intermediate course explores macOS on a machine you own. It starts with the architecture: Darwin, the Mach and BSD halves of XNU, and how to inspect Mach-O binaries without running them. You then use the terminal to look at APFS locations, access control lists and the quarantine flag on downloads. The main part covers System Integrity Protection, Gatekeeper with notarization, TCC privacy prompts and code signatures. You list launch agents and daemons to understand persistence, compare the Keychain with FileVault encryption and explore app bundles and their entitlements. Further lessons introduce lsof, dtrace and lldb for your own programs and turn everything into a hardening checklist. A capstone report and the final exam lead to a Tutorvo certificate.
