What you'll build

What you will be able to do

Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.

  • Measure one month of final inspection at Kestrel Valve Co.: defects per unit, defects per million opportunities and first-pass yield, per product line and for the whole plant.
  • Uncover the hidden factory on the V10 line with rolled throughput yield and convert yields and DPMO into sigma levels with NORM.S.INV and the 1.5 shift.
  • Rank one quarter of V10 defects, compute shares and the cumulative percentage, count the vital few and draw a Pareto chart.
  • Judge whether the V10 bore can meet its ±50 µm tolerance: within and overall standard deviation, Cp, Cpk and Ppk.
  • Set the control limits for the seal kit fill weight from 12 subgroups with the A2/D3/D4 constants and chart the means to spot a signal.
  • Build a p-chart for 15 days of actuator testing with a different sample size every day, and find the day that signals a special cause.
  • Before trusting any capability number, you test the bore gauge: repeatability, reproducibility and %GRR of the tolerance from a 5 × 3 × 2 study.
  • Prove that the porosity project really cut scrap with a t-test, then put a dollar value on the cost of poor quality, the annual saving and the payback.

About this course

Quality improvement depends on measuring defects and variation the same way every time. This course builds those measurements. You calculate defects per unit, DPMO and first-pass yield, combine steps into rolled throughput yield and convert results to a sigma level. A Pareto chart reveals the few defect types that matter most. You compute Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk against specification limits, construct X-bar and R charts with standard constants and a p-chart for proportion defective, and run a simplified gage repeatability and reproducibility check. A final lab tests a before-and-after improvement with a t-test and estimates the cost of poor quality and savings. For Green Belt candidates, quality engineers and production supervisors.

Questions about this course

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay $9.99 once for this course. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. Prices are in US dollars; taxes may be added where required.

What exactly do I get?

All lessons and labs of this course, the final exam and the certificate, including later updates to the course, for as long as Tutorvo offers it. Access is personal and tied to your account.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you are not satisfied, email hello@tutorvo.com within 14 days of buying and we refund the course in full via Stripe. The guarantee does not apply once a certificate for the course has been issued to you, or where there are signs of abuse.

When can I start?

Right after payment. Access starts immediately at your request; for consumers in the EU/EEA the statutory right of withdrawal therefore ends once access has begun, while our 14-day money-back guarantee applies regardless.

Do I need Excel or other software?

No. The labs run in a spreadsheet inside your browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. Function names and syntax follow Excel.

Is the certificate an official qualification?

No. It confirms that you completed all lessons of the course and passed its final exam. It is not an official, state-recognised or professional qualification. The name is taken from your profile when the certificate is issued.
