What you'll build

What you will be able to do

Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.

  • Turn growth and margin assumptions into a three-year forecast of revenue, gross profit and EBITDA.
  • Link the income statement to retained earnings, cash and PP&E for one forecast year.
  • Calculate five years of unlevered free cash flow from EBIT, D&A, CapEx and working capital.
  • Calculate the cost of equity with CAPM, the after-tax cost of debt and the WACC.
  • Calculate the terminal value with both methods and cross-check each one against the other.
  • Discount five years of free cash flow and the terminal value, then bridge from enterprise value to value per share.
  • Build a 3 × 3 sensitivity table of enterprise value with one formula and mixed references.

About this course

Discounted cash flow valuation is a chain of linked assumptions, and this course has you build every link. You set revenue and cost assumptions, connect the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement so they balance, and derive unlevered free cash flow. The weighted average cost of capital is built from its components, and terminal value is calculated two ways, with the Gordon growth formula and an exit multiple. Discounting gives enterprise value, which you bridge to equity value and value per share, and a sensitivity table shows how much the result moves with WACC and long-term growth. Seven labs with automatic checks, for finance students, aspiring analysts and founders who want to understand how valuations are made.
