What you'll build
What you will be able to do
Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.
- Turn five years of Harrow Tools figures into free cash flow and owner earnings, and normalise them into one per-share number.
- Measure how much profit five companies earn on their capital and screen out the one whose high ROE is borrowed.
- Price five companies with three multiples and check whether their earnings yield beats a government bond.
- Apply two of Benjamin Graham's classic tests to five stocks and find the one trading below two-thirds of its net current assets.
- Value Harrow Tools with a five-year discounted cash flow model and compare the value per share with the share price.
- Blend two value estimates for five stocks, measure each margin of safety and set the price at which each would become interesting.
- Instead of guessing Kestrel Software's growth, you start from its $96 share price and read off the growth the market is already paying for.
- Turn a four-point value checklist into a weighted score, rank five stocks and pull out the top name with INDEX/MATCH.
About this course
Value investing rests on one idea: buy only when price sits well below a careful estimate of worth. This course builds that estimate. You calculate owner earnings and free cash flow, test quality with return on equity and return on invested capital, and compare P/E, P/B, EV/EBIT and earnings yield against bond yields. Classic screens such as the Graham number and net current asset value follow. A simple discounted cash flow produces intrinsic value per share, a margin of safety sets your buy price, and a reverse DCF reveals the growth a current price assumes. You finish by scoring and ranking five stocks on a checklist. For long-term investors and students; educational, not investment advice.
