Logic, Sets & Truth Tables with Spreadsheets
Propositions and truth tables with AND, OR, NOT and XOR, implication tricks, De Morgan proofs, sets as 0/1 columns, three-set Venn counts, a knights-and-knaves puzzle, ∀/∃ quantifiers with COUNTIF and a business-rule decision table, in 8 graded labs.

What you'll build
What you will be able to do
Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.
- Build the truth table of the four basic connectives with Excel's own logical functions and see where AND, OR and XOR differ.
- Compute the implication p → q, its converse and contrapositive, and the biconditional p ↔ q, and find which of them say the same thing.
- Prove De Morgan's law and the distributive law by checking all 8 rows of a three-variable truth table, and you count the rows where a popular wrong "law" fails.
- Treat Lumen Books' genre buyers as sets, build union, intersection and difference as 0/1 columns, count them and compute the Jaccard similarity of the two groups.
- Count all eight regions of a three-set Venn diagram straight from the raw membership data with one COUNTIFS pattern, verify the union with inclusion–exclusion and chart the regions.
- Solve a knights-and-knaves puzzle the spreadsheet way: list all 8 possible worlds, evaluate each person's claim, keep the rows where everybody is consistent and read off the unique solution.
- Turn the logical quantifiers ∀ (for all) and ∃ (there exists) into COUNTIF tests on Lumen Books' order list, per order and per customer.
- Evaluate three draft discount rules on 12 orders, count how many rules fire per order, and find the conflicts and gaps in the rule set before it goes live, with a coverage chart.
About this course
Logic and set theory are easier to understand when you can see every case at once. This course uses spreadsheet rows to do exactly that. You build truth tables for AND, OR, NOT and XOR, add implication and the biconditional and prove equivalences such as De Morgan's laws by comparing columns. Sets become columns of zeros and ones, so union, intersection and difference turn into simple formulas, and you count all eight regions of a three-set Venn diagram from real data. Logic puzzles are solved by testing every candidate row, and the universal and existential quantifiers are expressed with COUNTIF. The final lab checks a business decision table for conflicting and missing rules. For students of discrete maths, computing and philosophy.

Questions about this course
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay $9.99 once for this course. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. Prices are in US dollars; taxes may be added where required.
What exactly do I get?
All lessons and labs of this course, the final exam and the certificate, including later updates to the course, for as long as Tutorvo offers it. Access is personal and tied to your account.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If you are not satisfied, email hello@tutorvo.com within 14 days of buying and we refund the course in full via Stripe. The guarantee does not apply once a certificate for the course has been issued to you, or where there are signs of abuse.
When can I start?
Right after payment. Access starts immediately at your request; for consumers in the EU/EEA the statutory right of withdrawal therefore ends once access has begun, while our 14-day money-back guarantee applies regardless.
Do I need Excel or other software?
No. The labs run in a spreadsheet inside your browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. Function names and syntax follow Excel.
Is the certificate an official qualification?
No. It confirms that you completed all lessons of the course and passed its final exam. It is not an official, state-recognised or professional qualification. The name is taken from your profile when the certificate is issued.
