What you'll build

What you will be able to do

Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.

  • Turn a chat export into an adjacency matrix with COUNTIFS, count the ties and measure how many of them are mutual.
  • Count each person's outgoing and incoming ties, normalise them to degree centrality and find the studio's hub.
  • Add message weights to the degree, measure how dense the studio network is and how heavy an average tie is.
  • Run Dijkstra's algorithm on the studio's courier map in a step table, recover the route from the predecessors and measure the time it saves.
  • Square the collaboration matrix, read common neighbours and two-step reach from it and score how similar two people's circles are.
  • Turn a matrix of shortest-path lengths into farness and closeness, find the most central person and the network's average path length.
  • Turn the message network into a transition matrix and iterate PageRank with damping 0.85 until the ranks settle.
  • Count how many shortest paths run over each tie, find the bridge between the studio's two groups and chart the company-wide degree distribution.

About this course

Social networks, supply chains and link structures can all be analysed as graphs, and you do not need a programming language to start. This course builds the core graph measures with formulas. You convert an edge list into an adjacency matrix with COUNTIFS and identify hubs through degree, in-degree and out-degree. Weighted degree and density describe how connected the network is. You find shortest paths with a Dijkstra step table, count two-step reach and common neighbours with matrix multiplication and compute closeness centrality from a distance matrix. PageRank is calculated by iteration with a 0.85 damping factor, and the final lab looks at bridges, communities and the degree distribution. For analysts and students.

Questions about this course

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay $9.99 once for this course. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. Prices are in US dollars; taxes may be added where required.

What exactly do I get?

All lessons and labs of this course, the final exam and the certificate, including later updates to the course, for as long as Tutorvo offers it. Access is personal and tied to your account.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you are not satisfied, email hello@tutorvo.com within 14 days of buying and we refund the course in full via Stripe. The guarantee does not apply once a certificate for the course has been issued to you, or where there are signs of abuse.

When can I start?

Right after payment. Access starts immediately at your request; for consumers in the EU/EEA the statutory right of withdrawal therefore ends once access has begun, while our 14-day money-back guarantee applies regardless.

Do I need Excel or other software?

No. The labs run in a spreadsheet inside your browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. Function names and syntax follow Excel.

Is the certificate an official qualification?

No. It confirms that you completed all lessons of the course and passed its final exam. It is not an official, state-recognised or professional qualification. The name is taken from your profile when the certificate is issued.
