What you'll build

What you will be able to do

Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.

  • Calculate current and power for six bench loads, find an unknown resistance from a measurement and check a resistor's power rating.
  • Combine four resistors in series and in parallel, split a supply voltage across a series chain and design-check a voltage divider.
  • Turn Kirchhoff's voltage law into two mesh equations and solve them with Cramer's rule to find every current in a two-source circuit.
  • Turn a 230 V, 50 Hz supply into its peak value, tabulate one full period of the sine wave, chart it and check the RMS value numerically.
  • Calculate the reactance of a capacitor and an inductor at 50 Hz, the impedance of two series circuits and their phase angles with ATAN2 and DEGREES.
  • Split the power of five workshop machines into apparent, real and reactive power, find the overall power factor and size the reactive power a capacitor bank would need to supply.
  • Turn the power ratings and running hours of Nadia's household appliances into kWh, cost each one and build her monthly bill.
  • Calculate the resistance and voltage drop of six cable runs, flag the ones above an illustrative 3% limit and find the next standard cross-section for the worst 230 V run.

About this course

Electrical engineering starts with a few laws applied very carefully, and here you apply them one cell at a time. You relate voltage, current, resistance and power, combine resistors in series and parallel and design a voltage divider. A two-loop circuit is solved with Kirchhoff's laws and Cramer's rule. Switching to AC, you build a sine table, compute peak and RMS values, then the reactance and impedance of RC and RL circuits. Real, reactive and apparent power lead to the power factor. Two practical labs finish the course: estimating monthly energy consumption and the electricity bill, and checking cable voltage drop against a conductor cross-section. Suited to engineering and physics students, apprentices and technically curious learners.

Questions about this course

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay $9.99 once for this course. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. Prices are in US dollars; taxes may be added where required.

What exactly do I get?

All lessons and labs of this course, the final exam and the certificate, including later updates to the course, for as long as Tutorvo offers it. Access is personal and tied to your account.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you are not satisfied, email hello@tutorvo.com within 14 days of buying and we refund the course in full via Stripe. The guarantee does not apply once a certificate for the course has been issued to you, or where there are signs of abuse.

When can I start?

Right after payment. Access starts immediately at your request; for consumers in the EU/EEA the statutory right of withdrawal therefore ends once access has begun, while our 14-day money-back guarantee applies regardless.

Do I need Excel or other software?

No. The labs run in a spreadsheet inside your browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. Function names and syntax follow Excel.

Is the certificate an official qualification?

No. It confirms that you completed all lessons of the course and passed its final exam. It is not an official, state-recognised or professional qualification. The name is taken from your profile when the certificate is issued.
