About this course

Sports analytics turns box scores into insight, and many of its best tools need nothing more than formulas. You start by building a league table from match results with points, goal difference and tiebreakers, then normalise player numbers per 90 minutes or per game. Basketball efficiency is measured with effective field goal and true shooting percentages, and expected goals reveal teams that over- or under-perform. You update Elo ratings after each match, estimate win percentage with the Pythagorean expectation and rank players with z-scores in a weighted composite.
