What you'll build
What you will be able to do
Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.
- Turn a fieldwork report into a response rate, a break-off rate and a clean count of usable interviews.
- Count a 5-point satisfaction question, report its top-2-box share and mean score, and handle "don't know" answers correctly.
- Sort 60 answers on the 0–10 recommend question into three groups and calculate the Net Promoter Score.
- Build a customer type × satisfaction cross-tab from raw answers, convert it to row percentages and compare the two segments fairly.
- Weight 3,000 interviews so each age group counts as much as it does among all customers, and see what weighting costs in precision.
- Put a margin of error on two survey results, correct it for a small B2B population, and plan how many invitations the next survey needs.
- Test whether app customers really recommend Brightwell more often than website customers, or whether the gap could be chance.
- Test whether satisfaction depends on the delivery option with CHISQ.TEST, then code open comments with keyword flags.
About this course
Survey results are easy to collect and easy to misread. This course teaches a careful way through them. You check response rate and sample quality, summarise Likert questions as distributions, top-two-box shares and means, and calculate net promoter score from promoters, passives and detractors. Cross-tabs by segment use row percentages, and weights align the sample with the population. You estimate the margin of error, adjust it for small populations and plan sample size, test the difference between two segments with a z-test and check independence with chi-square. A final lab codes open-text answers into themes. Suited to marketers, customer experience teams, HR analysts and students running their own surveys.
