What you'll build
What you will be able to do
Each lab ends with a concrete result that you build yourself and the checker confirms, cell by cell.
- Turn six months of a client's warehouse activity into lines and units per order, pooled averages, the peak-to-average ratio and the peak month: the facts every 3PL quote starts from.
- Bill six months of storage on the average and on the peak pallet count, add the shelf-bin fee, and convert a cubic-foot rate into a price per pallet.
- Price eight inbound receipts with an IF formula, measure the share of revenue from floor-loaded containers and the fee per unit, and find the break-even point of a flat container fee.
- Price September's orders by order size with a per-order fee and a per-additional-unit fee, work out the average fee per order and per unit, and test a proposed new rate card.
- Price the box with a lookup, add gift-wrap, fragile and insert surcharges with IF, and measure the add-ons per order without double counting.
- Price five clients' order fees from an all-units tier table, apply a minimum monthly fee with MAX, total the top-ups and find how far one client is from its next tier.
- Turn each client's activity into labour minutes with engineered standards, add space and packaging cost, compare the cost to serve with the revenue billed and flag the clients below the target margin.
- Price a prospect's forecast with the rate card, build two alternative offers, compare revenue, cost and margin per option in a chart and choose the option that fits the client's budget.
About this course
What should a fulfilment warehouse charge a new client? You answer that question from the ground up. First you turn a client's orders, lines, units and pallets into an activity profile. From there you price storage per pallet and per bin, inbound receiving by pallet, carton and SKU, and pick and pack as a per-order fee plus a charge for each extra unit. Packaging and special handling become surcharges, and minimum monthly fees and volume tiers protect the low end. The last labs compare cost to serve with price for each client and assemble a quote with several options and a margin chart. Useful for 3PL sales teams, warehouse managers and e-commerce brands checking a fulfilment offer.
